TAGS

Sorting by color tags.

Color tags are what make BASE unique as a simple image sorting system.

Tagging only the images you want to see, while hiding the others, makes the process of sorting images more efficient and fun.

You can also devise your own visual ranking system, using tags on images that are approved, or marked for deletion. Maybe you want to use a tag for images that need revisions. It's up to you.

Select images you want to tag

Select one or more images (shift or ctrl + select), then drag and drop them onto an empty tag.

You can think of new color tags as containers that hold images until they are sorted within a folder.

Create a new tag

First, select a color for your tag. If you don't like the color choices, click randomize for more.

The color of tags do mean anything, unless you want them to. For example, you may want a light yellow tag to represent images that have a bright summer vibe.

Give your tag a title (optional) and click on Create.

Sort by color tags

Now when you click on the new color tag, BASE will only show you images tagged with that color.

Tags are really just filters to help you with the process of sorting your images.

Editing a tag

Right click on a color tag to change the color, rename or remove it.

You can also move the tag to a different folder and download the tagged images to a zip file for archiving to your personal computer.

Untag.

Right click on the image(s) and select the untag option to remove the tag.

Remember, this only removes the tag from the image and not the image itself.

Sharing a tag

Right click on a tag to share it with another BASE user.

The recipient will be notified to view the images on BASE. The tagged images will be extracted to a folder that is shared with the sender.

Now both users can add images to the shared folder.

Creative ways to use tags.

Color tags can be used in a variety of ways, depending on your creative process… that's what makes them so special. Here are some examples…

Make Selects

Say you upload a series of 50 images. Select your favorites and drop them onto a color tag.

Now when you click on the color tag, it will filter out (hide) the other images.

Double click on an image to start viewing your favorites and make new selects by clicking on the heart icon / like.

Visual Ranking

With visual ranking you can come up with a sorting system that uses multiple color tags.

For example, 3 tags that represent a bronze, silver and gold medal… the images tagged with gold are the best.

Here the orange tag displays robots. I made a 2nd tag for robots that are "approved" for design revisions.

Image Colors

You may want to use a color tag to represent the colors in images.

For example, "images with pink."
